Top Christmas Digital Marketing Tactics

As we hit the 1st December tomorrow many businesses will be putting their digital marketing tactics into practice with festive adverts and holiday themed competitions, but what are the top strategies this season?

Find out below…

Top Digital Marketing Tactics to Try with Your Business this Christmas

1. Corporate Christmas Cards or E-Cards

Many companies send out bespoke company Christmas cards to their clients and customers wishing them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  This is a great way to reach out to your customers or clients and reignite any fizzling conversations by updating them on any news and perhaps even including a special offer for the New Year.

However, too many companies use generic cards with no personalisation or individuality considered.  These type of cards often end up getting shelved or worst still – thrown away!

If you are sending your clients a card or e-card this year think about getting something created that uses eye catching design, stays relevant to your branding and values and is personalised to each client – you’ll find they will go down much better and even get you some new years sales too!

2. Advent Countdown Competitions

Some companies run advent style promotions where there are things up for grams such as perhaps for B2C companies a prize giveaway every day, or for B2B perhaps free white papers, e-books or trials.

These types of competitions work well when publicised over social media channels (to increase followers and engagement) or email marketing (to encourage data capture and lead generation for the new year).

Just remember – it’s a great idea so long as you consider the amount of time you might need to put in to the actual mechanics of running competitions like these and also have the funds or resource to provide the prizes or give aways.  You don’t want to let your fans down by not being able to fulfil your promotion.

3. Tis the Season for Giving

The most important thing to remember at Christmas is its not all about sales and receiving gifts – it’s about giving too!

There are lots of ways to give back at Christmas – for example, here at Collective Industries, instead of sending out hundreds of Christmas cards by post that only get thrown away at the end of the month, we always make an extra donation to our supported charities for the amount we would have spend on cards and postage.  Then we send an e-card out to our clients instead, with a note at the bottom saying this is what we have done. This is something you could do too.

You could also give your top clients a little something extra to say thank you for their business such as a Christmas hamper, a bottle of their favourite bubbly or something else you think they might like.

4. Santas Lists

A playful take on the childhood stories of Santa’s Naughty or Nice lists.  Clients and customers, potential or current can get on your ‘Nice List’ by completing different call to actions such as “Like our Facebook page” or “Sign up to our newsletter” in exchange for an incentive.  Once they have signed up to the list using which ever method you prefer you can then give them their incentive, but then also send them correspondence on any relevant promotions, news or events you think they might enjoy!
